Maybe one day too, we’ll start selling our sweet clean goodies in cafe’s on the Mornington Peninsula. But for now we’re going to sit back and enjoy some sweet, guilt-free living. We invite you to do the same, too.

The Cookies & Clean Story

“I’ve got so many happy memories of childhood and mostly they come from baking with my mother.”

Ever since I was little I loved to help my mother cook.

Desserts, specifically. Main course didn’t interest me so much.

Mum used to throw lavish dinner parties back in the 80’s. I used to get so exciting helping her bake things like chocolate mousse, black forest cake and trifle. If I was lucky, I got to lick every bowl clean. If I was even luckier, I got to stay up for these sophisticated parties and sample the fare.

But as I grew, I lost this passion somewhere between a negative body image and not enough time.

Sadly, I stopped baking.

Today, I’m hugely passionate about health and fitness. I run regularly, cycle, skip & practice yoga. This doesn’t mean that I can eat what I want to. Even if I could, I wouldn’t. Over the years I’ve discovered first-hand, some of the effects excessive sugar, dairy, caffeine and alcohol can have on the mind and body.

Over the past 12 months I’ve slowly introduced myself to the raw / paleo food movement. And whilst I’m by no means a convert, I have adopted many of the principles.

With fantastic results too, I might add.

The best thing about cooking clean is that I can finally enjoy “sweet food” and start baking again! And hopefully provide some happiness and inspiration to you along the way.

Love,

Hi, love the idea of this. I too have been heavily reading into vegan and paleo lifestyles. How have you found a rationalisation between the two approaches? I need to reduce carbs but have gone off meat and milk over the past year. I’m torn between paleo and vegan lifestyles, do you have any thoughts on this?

Hi Helen, I’ve been torn as well. I was a vegetarian for 12 years and have tried veganism, but never lasted. I run A LOT and need the occasional steak or spag bol to keep my energy levels and stamina up. I am not a paleo convert by any stretch, yet I have been slowly integrating it in to my life: the all or nothing approach just doesn’t work for me. Life is meant to be lived and that means the occasional cheesy crust pizza or chocolate mousse. For me, moderation and being kind to myself is the key. Let me know how you go!
